Norda 001 Cinder: over 1,000 km in the mountains with a single intervention

Norda 001 Cinder: over 1,000 km in the mountains with a single intervention

There are many ways to talk about a shoe's durability. And then there's this: one of our Moksín customers has completed the Tour du Mont Blanc seven times — five this summer, two the previous one — in the same pair of Norda 001 Cinder. The only maintenance over that entire time: a Vibram outsole replacement.

Before we continue — this is the Norda 001, the model that preceded the Norda 001A currently on the market, which Norda launched with further improvements. If the 001 delivered these results, imagine what the 001A is capable of.

This is not a lab test. It is real use, in real conditions, on one of the most demanding high-altitude routes in the Alps.

What is the Tour du Mont Blanc and why does it matter as a benchmark

The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of the most demanding high-altitude routes in the Alps: 170 km per loop, varied terrain — rock, mud, snow, tarmac, technical trail — and weather conditions that can shift dramatically within hours.

It is not a route for conventional shoes. And you don't repeat it seven times in the same pair unless that pair is built to last.

The real condition after more than 1,000 km

The photos say more than any description could. But some details are worth reading closely.

Norda 001 Cinder new vs used pair after 7 Tour du Mont Blanc — Moksín

The upper has not given way. The bio-circular Dyneema® mesh that defines the construction of the Norda 001 remains structurally intact after more than 1,000 km. No tears, no open seams, no failure points at the highest-stress zones — instep, lateral, toe. The material has aged: the original white has shifted to a cream/earth tone that is the mark of real mountain use. But the structure has not failed.

The last has moulded to the foot. One of the most visible differences between the new and used pair is the shape. The new shoe holds its factory line — straight, symmetrical. The used one has taken the exact shape of its owner's foot — instep, toes, heel. The difference between a shoe and a shoe that belongs to someone.

The reflectives are still there. The lateral reflective panels — one of the most valued safety features of the Norda 001 in low-light conditions — remain functional after seven loops. More blended into the overall tone of the shoe, but intact.

The only intervention: a resole. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole is the highest-wear component in any trail shoe. After seven Tour du Mont Blanc loops, the outsole pad was replaced with a new one. Everything else — upper, midsole, lining, construction — has needed no intervention whatsoever. A resole is standard maintenance in technical mountain footwear. That it's the only thing this pair has needed says everything about how the Norda 001 is built.

Why the Norda 001 is built to last

The Norda 001 is not a conventional trail shoe. Since its founding in Montreal in 2021, Norda has built around a single premise: the most sustainable piece of footwear is the one that lasts the longest.

The upper mesh is made from bio-circular Dyneema® — a fibre that is 15 times stronger than steel at equal weight, and light enough to float on water. This is not a minor technical detail: it is the reason this upper has survived seven high-altitude loops without a single point of failure.

The midsole uses a custom Arnitel® TPEE blend — a high-performance technical elastomer that retains its cushioning and energy-return properties over time, unlike conventional EVA foams that compress and lose response with use. The outsole is an exclusive Norda × Vibram® collaboration featuring Megagrip® compound and Litebase® technology, with the option of resoling when the pad wears down — exactly what our customer did.

The result is not just a technical shoe. It is a shoe whose value-for-money improves with every additional kilometre it holds up.

Norda 001 Cinder: the colourway

The Cinder is the most stripped-back colourway in the Norda 001 catalogue: white/cream upper with a black outsole and beige accents. A palette that works equally well in technical trail and urban settings — and one that, as the photos show, ages with character. The cream tone of the used pair is not degradation: it is the colour of extreme use, worn in.

Frequently asked questions about the Norda 001

How long do Norda 001 shoes last?

Longer than most. This real-world case — more than 1,000 km of high-altitude terrain with a single resole — is the most honest answer we can give. Longevity depends on use and care, but the bio-circular Dyneema® mesh and Arnitel® technical elastomer midsole are engineered to hold their properties far longer than a conventional trail shoe.

Can the Norda 001 be resoled?

Yes. The Vibram® Megagrip outsole is the highest-wear component and can be replaced when the pad erodes, significantly extending the shoe's usable life. That is exactly what our customer did after seven Tour du Mont Blanc loops.

Is the Norda 001 for technical trail or just urban use?

Both — but its strength is trail. The high-tenacity Dyneema® mesh, Vibram® outsole with Megagrip compound, and Arnitel® midsole with energy return make it competitive on demanding terrain. At the same time, its clean silhouette and colour palette work just as well in the city.

What size should I choose for the Norda 001?

The Norda 001 runs small — size up one full size from your usual shoe size. At Moksín we're happy to help you confirm your size before you decide.

Where can I buy the Norda 001 in Spain?

Available at Moksín, both in our online store and at our physical shops in Santiago de Compostela and A Estrada. You can also find it at moksin.com with international shipping.
